High Concept
Angel In Repose
It seems Garland’s first “Angel of Death” is less interested in doling out his namesake, these days. Of course, there remains upon him a dangerous sense of the divine; a pretty veil that well belies his purpose, even as some... little... something about him can make the hairs stand on the back of your neck. The great and terrible angel, it seems, has taken to a roost… and hence, laid down his flaming sword. The pommel, though it lay still in reach, seems now more warily regarded…
(In plainer terms: this failure destroyer, who once wrought death in multitudes, appears to have learned ‘remorse.’)
Trouble Aspect
Unexpected Encore
Certainly, he had no idea what would come ‘after’. As far as he knew, as far as he was told... From his own past manipulations of souls… there would be nothing, for him. And in those last few moments, in terrible pain, he tried to convince himself he could accept that.
The Cities are a surprise. Not unwelcome. But surely, a surprise! Life truly does go on, heedless to his feelings. In the back of his mind is a clock counting down, with no numbers borne upon its face. He cannot tell if it even ticks. ...One day, even here, will he, too, ‘stop’? It’s a strange position, trying to live as one dead, and as one dying, simultaneously. When will Garland’s discarded doll, finally, fall into pieces…?
Other Aspects (up to 3)
Silver Genome
...The nature of his origin gifts Kuja with some unique traits. He lives, but does not age, and never has. To be short about it, the chance to live out a childhood - to be allowed to mature normally, and, you know, learn healthy emotional control and coping mechanisms - was totally denied to him. Shortly after his creation there was determined to be a problem. The genome was found by its creator to be all too willful - though also, curiously, to be lacking in the depth needed to access the power of Trance.
The silver genome would become an emblem of the many setbacks plaguing his creator’s ultimate goal. ...The creator would shift his attention elsewhere, and the emblem would become lonely.. Then, the creator revealed his new, improved Angel of Death, who would get to be a real child, who could grow and who the creator planned to raise to feel for real.
...The emblem of failure toiled for four years to abide being replaced, as his successor slowly matured. In this, he also fell short. The second Angel was delivered onto Gaia, and the silver genome returned to Terra, confident that he would now remain necessary. The creator, instead, cast him out from their home for good.
(...Still, at times, he would contact his banished creation, with instructions to carry out his will. Sometimes, there was a glimmer that the ‘emblem of failure’ could still live up to his intended fate… ..it tore at him. He could not be happy to obey. He wanted to prove him wrong, that he could fulfill what he was meant for. He wanted to live on, possessed of his own will. He wanted to defy his creator’s will, however he could… )
...Ultimately, the silver genome came to believe that if you want to be noticed, that if you want someone’s response, good or bad, you had to be powerful about it. That the consideration of others was not something he could expect, nor rely upon - instead, it had to be invoked by will, and maintained by guile, or threat.
In closing - as any other genome, he has a furry, prehensile tail, and is designed to be able to house outside souls within his body. Usually he undertakes to hide the tail from view.
TLDR: ..Sorry, this one got kind of long! There was a lot to unpack here. The aspect ‘silver genome’ is, in short, rep of Kuja’s origin, and of his complicated relationship to it - he relishes his life, the thrill of his innate powers - but despises knowing he is for something, someone else’s grand destiny that he was never meant to partake.. that the person who made him decided even in his making, that he could do better. Acknowledging his tail too much makes him feel dysmorphic, at times. It’s a big wiggly reminder of his status as mere vessel of Terra’s dreams.
A Flare for the Dramatic
Kuja is beyond accomplished as a red mage, wielding powerful magic from multiple disciplines. The dead world of Terra was one steeped in magical power, and he was aimed, once, to be the plunging sword of Terra’s revival. ..Is it any wonder, then, that a man who surges with magic is bewitched by the ephemeral power of the stage..?
To be short about it, theatre is what he used to have instead of empathy. He’s still working on the empathy part. Much of Kuja interacts with others, how he envisions and visualizes the world - is in distinct, theatrical scripts. They’re comfortable. They’re powerful. They’re easy to sweep others up into along with him - after all, doesn’t everyone want to be a star of some stage, at least once?
(Not that he likes to share. But it’s enjoyable to make others believe they’re of higher regard than they are, for him. Fellow egotistical personalities are sort of like popcorn to him - easy marks he could eat up all day.)
Whispers to War
local messy bitch really good at getting people to turn on each other and or present really great reasons to forge certain allyships. He’s.. Trying.. To learn schema of interacting with people that aren’t born out of either necessity or utilitarian usefulness, but old habits, you know… especially old habits that retain a practical draw, as he is cast into a strange world. He has no grand ambition, now, but it’s hard to resist the game when the rules are as familiar as breathing.

*Narrative motifs (colors, numbers, flowers, gemstones, instruments, songs, etc. associated with your character)
Colors - silver, white, lavender, red. Theatre is a big theme. Feathers, dolls and marionettes… gold accenting… i feel like there is more but i’ll work on it. Angels.jpg. Really freaky biotech is also in his aesthetic but not so much in a positive way, emotionally.
*How long ago did you first come to the Cities? If you’ve been here for a while, which city are you based in?
Kuja is a recent arrival, who has certainly been in the cities for less than a year, and probably less than six months, it’s just, you know, timey-whimey, whatevers. We played out his arrival scene a while back! He wasn’t feeling so hot.
Kuja likes to shuttle between the cities as his whims take him, but time and again he drifts back most to Tristram. A gloomy, rainy city, bustling with the breath of people living busy lives… it’s so homey.
*addendum - it’s still less than a year now but more like 6-8 months range than less than
