[ he rearranges, and tucks any hair that's ended up in front of his shoulders toward the back. the feathers more subtly hidden in the layers of his hair stand out a lot more, when it's slicked down like this. ]
[thanks to a certain distracting Rose, muffin has forgotten why you shouldn't use shampoo in hot tubs, but that's a problem for future muffin to clean up.
right now, there's a difference in how he washes angel devil's hair now than when he washed redsoul's. more than just longer hair and feathers needing more attention, he's taking his time deliberately, happy to dote and preen and spoil]
[ there's a different, tinier sigh, once muffin's really gotten into the swing of it. a little hummm... that can barely be heard, perhaps done more for the sake of itself than for the one who's around to hear it.
it's always a little strange, before it starts to be soothing. but when it's actually soothing...
he doesn't make any other noises. doesn't pull any provocative poses or make any suggestive murmurs, as Angel Devil for-real 100% relaxes into the almost hypnotic feeling of his touch. he is, in fact, taking this moment to actually Brain Off, Only Nice Preening Now. it's not at all a stillness of someone frozen in trepidation, that's for sure. ]
[muffin sings quietly to himself as he works, sometimes humming, sometimes chirping. there's a few pieces of familiarity, like a music box tune or a birdsong from out in the pasture, but it's mostly peaceful aimless meandering.
every feather gets its share of preening, his hair is rinsed with handfuls of water poured carefully not to splash or get in his eyes, and eventually muffin has to admit he's made angel devil's hair as clean and tidy as he can possibly get it today.
he chirps a little louder and taps angel devil on the shoulder, all done.]
angel devil resumes coherent thought a little reluctantly, upon the conclusion of the nice lullaby of lulling sounds and touches he's painstakingly learned will, in fact, stay pleasant, even if he doesn't stay constantly anticipatory of them. what the fuck, honestly. preening time is apparently sacred, or something. this is why he's going to need to study hard not to fuck it up. ]
[ BIIIIIIIG STRETCH, up to and including his tail rising out of the water to bend in and make a pose kind of like a teapot handle, curling up to a tight little nautilus at the end ]
Muuuuuch better! Alright! I actually feel ready to go pay some pipers and convolute other foods to toss on your kitchen counter or whatever else I agreed to behind my own back! Carpe diem, Angel Devil!

[ get towel'd, catbird. the first flumphs energetically right into his outstretched arms. the second one, Angel Devil catches in a vice grip by a corner to pull over to himself before it, too, can finish its attempt to happily tackle Muffin. ]
Quite. Next time, we should do this with rose petals strewn about, I think! And Rose did recently come into a modicum of candles.... yesss, I think... I know exactly which I'd bring...!

Candlelight creates a... strong feeling of closeness, does it not? The same space, near, or far... can seem to the mind completely different under such a cast.

Makes sense. Is low light, maybe flickers. Have to stay close to see what you're looking at. May even need to rely on touch to be really sure.
