Matoba's soul/aura is quite human, but feels like a white flame contained in an iron cask. Very powerful, but well contained through practice. Perceiving emotions or thoughts from his soul/heart/mind is very difficult, part of that well maintained practice. Big spiritual walls up on this one.
While not his soul per se, his overall aura is affected by this- idk if Kuja can sense stuff like curses but I'll mention it anyway- his right eye has the 'pull' of something very powerful that feels like Very Bad Juju. It isn't contained within the eye itself, it just feels as though there's a little red string of destiny tying it to that Bad Something.... somewhere.
