So! Through the course of RPing in Austice it has become evident I'm in need of this!!
Tell me about anything out of the ordinary about your character's soul, and what Kuja might be able to understand of it by interacting with them. I'll let you know if it's something he can pick up on -- in the end I try to play his soul senses as not TERRIFICALLY extensive. It's like... what you would know by interacting with the surface of an object, rather than being able to see inside it, you know?
In general I'm gonna assume people aren't gonna ping him as weird. But they could. If you got other guys in there with you he would definitely know.

What Kuja would be able to glean is that there's Another Lil Guy in there, reminding him somewhat of Dimos' tiny growing flame of a soul. Due to its proximity to Albedo's, though, it doesn't seem to be growing like a small soul normally would -- it isn't recieving enough sun, you could say. This makes sense to Kuja; souls don't grow without experiences, that's how crystals work and a big reason why Terra is in its predicament (lack of nourishment, from the advent of immortality). He assumes Albedo's situation is like his: a primary soul with a quiet side passenger.
If he were to describe Albedo's soul.. it would be as two cherries on a shared stem, one small, one robust.

It's stated in canon that exoflecting Phantom damaged him in both body and soul, too. SO YEAH, HE'S A LITTLE BIT BROKEN IN MULTIPLE WAYS, enough so that it would most definitely be noticeable. He himself states he's only got around ten years left, to give an idea of just how bad it is.

So here's what Kuja is getting out of it: sorry Phil but your soul kind of feels like handling something that gives at your touch that is not SUPPOSED to give at your touch. Stagnant, rotting souls are old hat to him thanks to his canon, but-- that's NOT what a healthy soul is supposed to feel like. From the start it's like holding a clay pot, you can feel how delicate it is in your hands by nature. But then you get into the.. the ick parts. The apple clearly still has plenty of "good" portions, but with the flesh already broken... You know what happens next, right?
He's going to check in on Phil often out of morbid fascination, and a little bit of horror that maybe this could be what's going to happen to him. Does.. does Kuja feel like touching a bad spot on a fruit?????

Exceeeept as he starts his campaign to help Aoi... It's very likely to no longer be something in his "oofs that's rough, irrelevant to me tho" box, especially when he comes to understand what he's looking at in regards to Marcus.

Marcus is essentially... a manifestation of soul and energy, among other things? He's corporeal and all but technically if Phil ran out of energy that would not be the case. And while he's made up of a lot of different elements, he's still connected to Phil and parts of his soul are probably Phil-flavored.

Normally, Kuja's not great at recognizing an individual soul's signature outside of it's original, entire context-- but Marcus and Phil are a very particular situation, aren't they? From context, Phil's influence is familiar to him - brittle like fired clay, an ambient sickness.
...and then there's the fact that they're tethered together! If Kuja follows that tether -- which he inevitably will -- he'll find Phil at the end. He can tell on sight that there's a distinct flow, from Phil to Marcus.
If Marcus actually originally came from Phil, he might be able to tell that, but that's up to you! He'd maybe describe it as.. like Phil provides the plant bulb, and Marcus is all the shoots above.
If Kuja ever ICly encounters the concept behind a Mirrite.. if I'm understanding it correctly, he'll definitely connect that Marcus is one. Kujie's a clever bird.
Anyway, it's yet another episode of "Phil, what."

Sans reminds him less of a plant, actually, and more of one of the frustrating little clumps of animal cells he's been trying to culture in his horrible "typical Terran crimes against god" workshop. Full of potential and flexibility far beyond that of a more rigid human soul, but so very. Very. Very fragile.
So, like. Fucked up embryo soul. Or he could just call you a hothouse orchid, he guesses. Difficult to keep safe, possessed of a rare quality... but then he wouldn't be comparing you to something vexatious.

Luna feels like a dry, brittle vine at the end of the season. Hollow on the inside. She doesn't have that.. vague gravitational pull that Genomes have, so he's not even sure if she's meant as a vessel that's just gone unused. She's a mystery.

We already know Aoi's a precious little teacup who's been through some seriously turbulent treatment-- but to fit her into Kuja's tidy greenhouse of souls, let's see...
A flower, once bloomed, does not repair. Its petals are never replaced; what is born in the bud, once shorn, does not return. At least not by any means Kuja is aware of. Aoi is surely a blooming daffodil that has been rudely uprooted, roots washed clean of dirt to dangle free in the air-- petals chewed by a careless insect.

While not his soul per se, his overall aura is affected by this- idk if Kuja can sense stuff like curses but I'll mention it anyway- his right eye has the 'pull' of something very powerful that feels like Very Bad Juju. It isn't contained within the eye itself, it just feels as though there's a little red string of destiny tying it to that Bad Something.... somewhere.

Kuja can't sense things beyond the structure and general health of a soul, so the lack of deeper perception is situation normal-- but he can definitely get the vibe of that thick protective layer. It's kinda like he's got a Shell cast over his innermost self...
If the curse has any kind of link to a soul, whether it's Matoba's or not.. Kuja can see that string, and if there's a flow of energies in or out of Matoba.

So in Exalted's setting, people have two souls! One is a "higher soul" that basically encompasses everything that makes a person themselves—it's where all the higher thinking and emotions, consciousness, reason, spirituality etc. are. When a person dies, this soul is basically disconnected from the body and can become a ghost if they don't pass on. The other is the "lower soul" which basically contains all the animal brain instincts and base desires, like hunger, aggression, etc. It normally stays in the body and "decomposes" over time.
Sunrise…is basically a new higher soul that got shoved into a vacant body. Her lower soul is technically inherited from the original, but it's very weak, which is why she doesn't feel hunger and seems to be thoroughly lacking a fight-or-flight instinct, among other things. Idk my bff Kuja this is probably of some kind of scholarly interest to you

Ain is an angel, but like. he Is a soul walking, his physical form is more of a "shell" if I had to describe it. He's technically, legally-speaking, a ball of light. Because... angels from Elrios.......... are just balls of light made up of a metric fuckton of raw magic.
