[ he's gone for ten seconds at most. when he reappears, he's still on fire, clothes already burnt to a crisp -- though he's keeping a defensive Shinsu layer next to his skin, he's not stupid. even with his head feeling like it's splitting apart, he could easily summon a stormcloud; or even better, just teleport himself into the ocean.
